An Initiative From:

Nettleton School District

GUIDANCE AND SUPPORT FOR PARENTS
Nettleton Public Schools currently provides support for parents through many different programs. Each of the three elementary schools has a “Family Center” on site. Parents are provided materials and resources which enable them to interact with their child. “Family Night” allows parents and children to participate in fun activities prepared by the Family Center Coordinators. Activities consist of board games, art activities, talent showcases, and thematic stations.

The Nettleton Even Start Program is also a support program for parents. Parents enrolled in the program attend weekly Parent Education classes on site. Parent and Child Interactive Literacy Time is also a part of the program. For one hour each week, parents spend time with their child by participating in activities such as reading, art, music, dramatic play, and other learning tools.

PRESCHOOL PROGRAMS
Nettleton Public Schools currently has four preschool classrooms on site and an infant and toddler program. The ABC (Arkansas Better Chance) Program, sponsored by Arkansas State University, currently has three preschool programs on Nettleton sites, two at Fox Meadow Elementary and one on the Nettleton High School campus. Children ages 4 and 5 are served through this program. Qualifications for the ABC program include low- income families, developmentally delayed children, low birth-weight children, and premature children. Currently 60 children are served through the ABC program.

The Nettleton Even Start Program has one preschool classroom serving children ages 3-5. Children qualify for this program if a parent is attending high school, adult education, English as a Second Language classes, or Arkansas State University Technical College. Currently, 10 children are served in the Nettleton Even Start Preschool program.

The Nettleton Even Start Program also has an Infant and Toddler Program. Two classrooms house children ages 6 weeks – 3 years. The same qualifications for the NES Preschool Program apply to the Infant and Toddler Program. Currently, 20 children are served in the NES Infant and Toddler Program.

BEFORE-SCHOOL, AFTER-SCHOOL AND VACATION PROGRAMS FOR SCHOOL-AGE CHILDREN
Nettleton Public Schools provides before-school, after-school and vacation programs for school-age children through the Camp Raider Program and the Nettleton Schools 21CCLC program. Programs are located on-site at each of the elementary schools.
