King
Elementary School

King
Elementary is one of six elementary schools
in the Van Buren School District, Van Buren,
AR. We are located in the river valley of western Arkansas.
Our
district has 5,300 students; King Elementary
has 320 students. King School, established 1916,
is considered part of historic Van Buren.
We
have provided several innovative programs at
King through the years, including: Gifted and
Talented Cluster Program for the district's
students in grades 2, 3 and 4; ESL instruction
through inclusion with a certified teacher in
grades kindergarten through 4; and Special Education
inclusion.

King
school is an appropriate setting for the district's
first 21C preschool classes. Part of the students are ABCSS and part are tuition.
King
Elementary Preschool now consists of two classes
with space for 16 children per room. These classes are integrated into the elementary
school, attending special classes such as library,
music, art, and PE.
Preschool
students and parents also participate in all
special events provided for the entire school.
Preschool parents have access to before-school
care from 7-8 am and after school care from
3-5:30 pm.

Special
Education screening and testing are provided
for all students. Services of a school nurse,
a guidance counselor, ESL teacher and special
education staff are available.
Parent-child
literacy nights, led by King's math and reading
specialists are scheduled.
King
Elementary Preschool and 21C have made great
strides since its beginning in January 2002.

Please
see King's website
for more information on their program.
