Anthony Reed, Ph.D., Cornell University, 2010, is Assistant Professor of African American Studies and English. His research and teaching focus on poetics and 20th/21st century global black writing, investigating the intersections of aesthetics and politics in literature, film and other media.  His current project, The Other Side of Time: The Poetics of Black Experimental Writing, emphasizes the ways literary form and literature's configurations of time challenge dominant ways of conceiving black writing and cultural production.  Further research includes a study of the relationship between writing and improvisation as referent, practice and formal principle.  Professor Reed's courses include "Poetics and Music in the African Diaspora," "Representations of U.S. Slavery," and "Caribbean Poetry."
