Ancient "Lost" Egyptian City Discovered by Yale Archaeologists
A Yale team led by Professor of Egyptology John Coleman Darnell has unearthed the remains of a lost ciy that flourished more than 3,500 years ago in the Western Desert of Egypt. The extensive remains, located 100 miles west of Luxor and 300 miles south of Cairo, suggest that the city functioned as an administrative, economic and military center during Egypt's Second Intermediate Period, when rival factions contended for domintation of the ancient Egyptian state.
