You Postage Budget
Many Yale departments spend a considerable amount on unnecessary postage by sending mail to campus mail addresses via the US Postal Service.
While you may think it is quicker to send items by US mail, keep in mind that Campus Mail delivers both US and campus mail to your department. Sending mail through the US Postal Service causes your mail to make the trip to Wallingford and back before campus mail receives it for delivery.
Most letters do not have a correct/complete address, or return address for that matter. Since the U.S. Post Office is unable to sort this mail by machine directly into the correct P.O. boxes, they must deliver it to Campus Mail in bulk. We then must hand sort this mail to the proper departments.
Campus correspondence should be sent via campus mail using the person's campus address which consists of: name, department, campus location.
All mail using US mail needs the person's department name and the correct post office box number for that department, not the street address, so that it can be sorted by the USPS sorting machines and go to the departments the same day we receive it.
You will see significant savings (and time) by sending your
campus correspondence through Campus Mail!
