Getting Involved
In addition to recruiting at Yale, posting a job or internship, or attending one of our career fairs, there are other ways in which employers can enhance their visibility with our students, while helping them to make more informed choices and to better understand the world that awaits them.
Panels/Workshops
Employers often participate on panels or give presentations to our students. These sessions may be specific to an industry (e.g. Advertising; Arts Administration; etc.), or may be more generic in character (e.g. "How to Get a Job When Nobody is Hiring"). We welcome the wisdom and perspective employers bring to events such as these, and our students are grateful for the opportunity to hear from those "in the real world."
Real World Tours
Speaking of "the real world", every semester we lead parties of students on visits to places of business, to expose them to a field and learn about potential job opportunities. This is an excellent way to showcase an organization to our students, and past trips have covered advertising, book publishing, and financial organizations.
Practice Interviews
For those able to come to campus, offering practice interviews provides a valuable service to our students, while also helping you to identify potential future talent. Students benefit from critical, informed feedback, and their improved capacity to present themselves helps employers to see just what our students have to offer.
Friends of UCS
Friends of UCS include corporations and non-profit organizations that seek to establish a close, on-going relationship with our students and the University. By providing financial and programmatic support to UCS, these organizations contribute in a very real sense to the success of our students. Benefits include the promotion of your organization through our web site and our Career Manual, as well as public recognition at major events.
Recent examples of support for UCS have included:
- Funding to produce new presentation and marketing literature
- Support to purchase web-based career-related software packages
- Underwriting student-alumni summer networking receptions
- Underwriting summer internship opportunities
Other possibilities include:
- Support for the UCS Career Manual, distributed to all Yale undergraduates
- Underwriting of our publication for graduating seniors: Life After Yale
- Hosting summer career panels in major metropolitan areas
Numerous opportunities exist to help UCS to deliver the quality programs for which Yale is known. For further information on any of these opportunities, or to discuss other possibilities, please contact our Employment Programs team at 203.432.0804, or email: georgia.goodson@yale.edu
