Yes. If you are living in New Haven during the Spring semester, under U.S. law you must fill out the Census in New Haven. Only students not attending Yale during the Spring semester may be counted elsewhere - there are no exceptions. It does not matter if you are registered to vote, file taxes, etc. elsewhere.

International students are also required to fill out a Census. U.S. law specifies that every person must fill out a Census form, regardless of citizenship or immigration status. Rest assured that the Census is completely safe and confidential.

Off-campus students. You will receive a Census form in mid-March. Fill it out and mail it back!

Those studying abroad or taking a year off and living elsewhere do not need to fill out the Census in New Haven. However, if you are elsewhere in the United States you should do so wherever you happen to be living during this term.
