America On Board
Welcome to the online home for America on Board, the Yale College Chess Club's chess-in-schools project. Here you can find more information on which schools have America on Board chess clubs, how to get America on Board at your school, and info about our upcoming events, including Communiversity Day.
If you're a Yalie interested in teaching chess at a New Haven school please contact our AOB director, Tobi Kuehne, or drop us a line through our contact page. You really don't have to be a chess expert to tutor with us; it's more important that you care about young people and enjoy mentoring them.
We currently tutor at:
Microsociety Magnet School
Address:
    103 Hallock Ave,
    New Haven, CT 06519
Time: Friday 3:30-6:30 (meet outside Battel Chapel at 3:15pm)
Space Available: Yes
If you're a parent, teacher, administrator, or student in New Haven interested in bringing America on Board to your school, we'd like to hear from you. Depending on how many volunteers we have, we start new clubs near the beginning of semesters, but get in touch with us now! We can also direct you to other chess resources in the New Haven area if we are unable to help you.
All America on Board scholastic programs, from chess clubs in schools to our Communiversity Day booths are free and run by Yale undergraduates on a volunteer basis as part of Dwight Hall and its Education Network (EdNet). We have currently discontinued our semesterly PAL tournaments co-sponsored by the Police Athletic League but if you are interested in learning more about those feel free to contact us.
