CIQLE is currently accepting applications for a postdoctoral fellowship for one or more years, to start in Fall 2009. Congratulations to Dr. Karl Ulrich Mayer, who has been appointed Stanley B. Resor Professor of Sociology at Yale University. Dr Mayer conducts research in the areas of social stratification and mobility, the sociology of aging and the life course, social demography, occupational structures and labor processes, and methods of survey research. At Yale, he chairs the Department of Sociology and is co-director of the Center for Research on Inequalities and the Life Course (CIQLE), of which he was the founding director 2003 through 2007. Berkay Özcan will join CIQLE as a postdoctoral fellow beginning September 1, 2008. He is receiving his Ph.D. this year from the University of Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, Spain, with his dissertation entitled, "The Effects of Marital Transitions and Spousal Characteristics on Economic Outcomes."April 2008
