University lots will be open to the public from 4:00 pm Friday, May 18, through Sunday, May 20. For locations of all University lots, click here.

Satellite parking with wheelchair-accessible shuttle service

to Old Campus is available on Monday from 7:30 to 9:45 am from Pierson-Sage garage near the Peabody Museum on Whitney Avenue. Overflow parking with shuttle service to Old Campus will be provided at Science Park garage, 276 Winchester Avenue.

Both garages are open to guests on Monday only. See directions below.

Cars with handicapped tags or license plates will be accommodated in Yale Lot 51 from 4:00 pm Friday through Monday. Additional handicapped parking will be provided on Monday on the surface lots near Ingalls Hockey Rink at 202 Prospect Street and in Lot 81, located south of the British Art Center on Crown Street. See directions below.

Guests of Davenport and Pierson Colleges, as well as those from the Schools of Architecture and Art may wish to use the Howe Street garage throughout Commencement weekend. From Chapel Street, turn right onto Howe Street. The garage is on the right. An attendant will be on hand to assist.

Transportation from New Haven train stations

Yale shuttles, which are free to members of the Yale community and their guests, are available from Union Station and State Street Station beginning at 7:00 am. University ID is not required.

On the day of Commencement, take the red line from Union Station or State Street Station to main campus. Departures from Union Station are every fifteen minutes on the quarter hour and from State Street Station, four minutes later.

Drop-off at College and Chapel Streets would be most convenient for Commencement guests going to Old Campus. At 10:00 am, when the Commencement procession begins and streets are closed, drop-off will be at Chapel and Church Streets.

Return red line shuttles leave from Phelps gate, with pick-up every fifteen minutes.

      Pierson-Sage Garage
       

From I-91, take Exit 3, Trumbull Street. Stay in middle lane as exiting and continue straight on Trumbull until Whitney Avenue, approximately two blocks. Take right onto Whitney and continue until second light. The entrance to Pierson-Sage is on left, opposite Humphrey Street, and will be identified by sign, "Commencement Parking." Attendants will be on hand.

From I-95, turn off turnpike at I-91 North toward Hartford-Springfield. Continue for short distance to Exit 3, Trumbull Street. Follow directions above.

From Route 15 (Wilbur Cross/Merritt Parkways), heading north or south, take Exit 61. Drive south on Whitney Avenue toward New Haven for approximately 5 milies. The entrance to Pierson-Sage is on right, opposite Humphrey Street.
 

     
       

From I-91 North, take Exit 3, Trumbull Street. Turn right at second light onto Whitney Avenue. At third light, turn left onto Edwards Street. At next light, turn right onto Prospect Street. Take immediate left at next light onto Hillside. Follow Hillside down to Winchester Avenue and turn right. Garage will be on left. Parking attendants will be on hand to assist.

From Route 63/Whalley Avenue, turn left onto Ashmun Street. Follow Ashmun to Webster, turning right onto Webster. At next light, turn left onto Winchester. Go straight on Winchester for .5 mile. Garage will be on left.
 

     
       

Directions to Lot 51 (open from 4 pm Friday through Monday)

Lot 51 is located behind Hendrie Hall and is accessed via Temple Street.

From I-91 North, take Exit 3, Trumbull Street. Stay in middle lane as exiting and continue to third stoplight. Turn left onto Temple Street. Continue on Temple, crossing Grove and Wall Streets. Just beyond Wall Street on the right is entrance to Lot 51.
 

       

Directions to Ingalls Rink surface lot (open Monday only)

From I-91 North, take Exit 3, Trumbull Street. Turn right at second light onto Whitney Avenue. At first light, turn left onto Sachem Street. Take next right onto Prospect Street. Parking is on left.
 

       

Directions to Lot 81 (open Monday only)

Lot 81 is located south of British Art Center on Crown Street.

From I-91 or I-95, take Route 34 West to Exit 1. Turn right onto York Street, then right onto George Street. Take next left onto High Street and then a left onto Crown. Parking lot is on right. Walk north on High Street one block to Old Campus.
 

     
       

From Interstate 95, north or south
Take exit for I-91 North toward Hartford-Springfield. Continue for a short distance on I-91 to Exit 3, Trumbull Street. Stay in the middle lane as exiting and continue straight on Trumbull. At fourth stoplight, turn left onto Prospect Street. At intersection of Prospect and Grove Streets, Prospect becomes College Street; Woolsey Hall may be seen on the right. Proceed on College Street past Wall and Elm Streets until the middle of the next block. The entrance to Old Campus is in the middle of the block, opposite the New Haven Green.

From Route 15, (Wilbur Cross/Merritt Parkways)

From north: Take Exit 61. Drive south on Whitney Avenue for approximately five miles. Turn right on Sachem Street at the Peabody Museum traffic light. Continue to next stoplight at Prospect Street and turn left. Proceed until Prospect Street becomes College Street  (Woolsey Hall may be seen on the right.) Cross Wall Street and Elm Street. The entrance to Old Campus is in the middle of the next block, opposite the New Haven Green.

From south: Take exit 57. Drive east on Route 34 (Derby Avenue) for approximately five miles past the Yale athletic fields. Take left onto Route 10 North (Ella T. Grasso Boulevard.) Proceed to fifth traffic light and turn right onto Whalley Avenue. Continue straight for 1.3 miles. Whalley becomes Broadway, and Broadway becomes Elm Street. Commencement guests may be dropped off at the corner of Elm Street and High Street, with entrance to Old Campus on High Street. You may also proceed on Elm Street to College Street. Turn right and proceed to Phelps gate.

From Route 34
