Yale can recycle all batteries. However, as of April '09, changes to the shipping regulations require that each battery be
placed in its own plastic bag or taped on each end prior to pick up. Because of this change, EHS has discontinued its collection
bucket program. Alkaline batteries can either go in the normal trash or collected for removal through EHS. All other batteries such as lead acid, lithium, rechargeable and button batteries must be taped or bagged and collected as Universal Waste. These batteries cannot be discarded in the normal trash. Batteries will not be removed unless packaged following these new requirements.
