The Wireless Information System for Emergency Resonders.

WISER is a system designed to assist first responders in hazardous material incidents. WISER provides a wide range of information on hazardous substances, including substance identification support, physical characteristics, human health information, and containment and suppression advice.

WISER data comes from the Hazardous Substances Data Bank (HSDB). HSDB is a toxicology data file on the National Library of Medicine's (NLM) Toxicology Data Network (TOXNET®). It contains information on human exposure, industrial hygiene, emergency handling procedures, environmental fate, regulatory requirements, and related areas. All data are referenced and derived from a core set of books, government documents, technical reports and selected primary journal literature.

A web-based version of WISER, WebWISER, is also available, and will work with most web browsers, including those on many mobile devices, such as the BlackBerry. to access the online version of WebWiser, follow this link: http://webwiser.nlm.nih.gov/.
