Minors In University Laboratories

There has been a substantial revision of the Yale University policy and procedures regarding the presence of minors in laboratories. The University has undertaken this revision in order to more clearly delineate allowable activities of minors in University laboratories and to assure continued compliance with state and federal regulations. The revised procedures are also intended to simplify the application process and minimize administrative burden on the University research activities so that faculty can focus on optimizing students laboratory experiences. The complete "Policy Governing Minors in Yale Laboratories", application form and parental consent form may be found at: http://provost.yale.edu/news-announcements/minors-in-labs.

Please note that this revised policy pertains to the presence of minors in all University-based research laboratory settings. While the participation of minors in field work falls outside the scope of this policy, investigators are responsible for the safety of minors in field work settings and are therefore encouraged to consult the (785-3550) and/or the Provost's Office (432-4444) if they have questions regarding the appropriate participation of minors in these University activities.
