Tuberculosis Awareness Training

Mandatory training for personnel in clinical setting with potential exposure to TB positive patients. EHS offers this training in two (2) formats. In order to receive your requirement credit for this course you must complete and pass the quiz at the end.

1.) Register for a c lassrooom session. Classes are held monthly and registration for any session can be done through the University's training website at: www.yale.edu/training.

2.) Complete the training on the web at: www.yale.edu/oehs/onlinetraining/TB/TB.htm.

If you are a Yale University employee and have a question regarding TB testing, symptoms, treatment, or your personal health status, contact the Employee Health Department at 432-7978. All other questions should be addressed to Yale's Office of Environmental Health and Safety.   Note: Employees should review the TB control plan for their specific facility or unit to learn any location specific details regarding the management of suspected TB patients and this plan can be accessed through their facility's infection control manual.

Yale University Infection Control Policies and Procedure Manual contains programmatic information including the university's TB exposure control plan. This document includes TB exposure control guidelines, procedures for handling suspected or known active TB cases, and procedures for medical follow-up of health care workers exposed to active TB cases.

The CDC's main TB webpage on TB contains recent information and news updates as well as links to treatment guidelines and blogs. The CDC also maintains a questions and answer page for laypersons interested in learning more about TB as well as educational and training materials.

The Connecticut Department of Public Health Tuberculosis Control Program has a website with information on TB facts and frequently asked questions, a list of statewide TB clinics, TB education materials, TB statistics in the State, and a description of TB quarantine laws in Connecticut.

The World Health Organization's website contains a series of web pages and documents describing its guidelines and strategy for controlling the spread of TB.

The American Lung Association website contains a TB fact sheet.

The Connecticut Chapter of the American Lung Association distributes TB materials free of charge to Connecticut healthcare providers and residents.
