Site 6 Description

Site Location: Below the wetland in the secondary outlet and above the heavily used logging road.

Description:  This is an ephemeral stream (although it was always running vigorously during our ten weeks of spring observations).  The site is 2 meter upstream from the road were the stream first crosses same. It is the second outlet of the wetland.

Cover:  This site exposed to direct sunlight due to the logging road gap in the canopy.  In the summer, the sampling site is only covered 50% of the time.

Channel characteristics: The stream at this site is a shallow and wide with broad flood plane. The channel bottom is a mix of bedrock and cobble.

Reason Selected: We wanted to monitor the effect of the swamp on water quality and a comparison with data below the logging road.  At this site we were able to do both by establishing the above the road qualities and below the swamp results.
