FY 2002 Needs Assessment
The Distributed Users Committee (DUCs) provide an
institutional view of end-user issues to university leadership
on matters concerning systems, applications, reporting and business
process in Finance, HR, Procurement, Reporting, Facilities, Student
Systems and sosme Provostial systems including faculty appointments.
They conducted a needs assessment in November 2001 by asking each
business office:
“What are the two or three things (policies,
procedures, processes, applications, etc.) that are most difficult
and/or time-consuming for you and others in your department
to deal with in carrying out your work and why.”
Three hundred and forty four items made the list.
Similar issues were combined to reach a final list of 193 issues.
Work has continued since then to address these issues and concerns.
The matrix is a working document for the DUCs, continually updated
as the status of an item changes.
Issues have not been revisited, once addressed. If
the original solution does not fully address the issue, it is expected
that the issue will resurface in a future needs assessment.
Matrix Key
- The orientation is column-based (shading enforces
that orientation)
- The columns represent a time line of sorts
- The original issues raised by end users are in
plain type
- Each issue was assigned a tracking number, indicated
in parentheses in plain type
- Like issues were grouped to avoid redundancy
- Multiple numbers in parentheses indicates that
the issue was raised by more than one group of end users
- Issues have been categorized into functional areas
- Issues may be repeated in more than one functional
area if they cross functional lines of responsibility
- Process Owners gave short responses to each issue,
indicated in bold face, in late FY 02Updates to issues that remain
outstanding have been added in italics.
