276 Prospect Street

276 Prospect Street is a distinctive Victorian era four level brick structure that has 36 student rooms. The building has a basement level that includes a few student bedrooms as well as bedrooms throughout the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors. There are 9 coed bathrooms throughout the building that all residents share. There is no elevator access to the upper floors in the building.
Rooms have standard university provided bedroom furniture: extra-long twin-sized bed frame & mattress, desk, desk chair, dresser and bookshelf. Rooms without a built-in closet also have a wardrobe unit for clothing. Most rooms are carpeted and the various size windows have mini blinds or pull-down shades. In addition, rooms at Prospect St are provided with an internet port, cable television port, and telephone port. Students must activate the telephone port (via Yale University Telecom services) to use the land-line telephone system. There is a separate charge for use of the telephone (and long-distance charges) but no additional charges for accessing the internet or cable tv. Students accessing the Yale network must register their computers at www.yale.edu/netreg, for full use of the internet. All of P St is on the University’s wireless network for student convenience!

The two kitchens, in the basement and on the second floor level, foster a strong sense of community among residents. Each kitchen is furnished with electric stove and oven units, full-sized refrigerators (shared by no-more than 2 residents), microwaves, toasters and other various shared appliances, and cupboard space. Residents must supply their own kitchen and cookware. All residents must participate in scheduled kitchen cleaning duties a few times each semester.
The first floor common room has TV with VCR & DVD player, ping-pong table, foosball table, and various games for students to play. Vending machines for students to purchase small snacks and sodas are located near the entry.
Other amenities include a University maintained computer room, basement laundry room, ground level bicycle room and storage room and a small backyard with picnic tables and barbecue grill.
US mail is delivered directly to the building by the US Postal Service Monday - Saturday. Packages from private carriers can be delivered and accepted at the dormitory address.
For security purposes, the front door of 276 Prospect St is a locked door. Students are issued keys to access the exterior entry points of the building as well as a bedroom key.
