Description of East Timor Mosaic: 1990_mosaic_large.jpg Creation Date: 2/06/03 Contact: Douglas Morton douglas.morton@yale.edu (203)432-3142 Image Description: The 1990 Lansat Thematic Mapper (TM) image mosaic of East Timor is comprised of portions of two Landsat Image mosaics provided by NASA and created by EarthSat Corporation. The TM mosaics have been geocorrected, and are provided at 30 m resolution, with a horizontal accuracy of less than 50 m. For more imformation on Landsat Image mosaics see: http://zulu.ssc.nasa.gov/mrsid/mrsid.pl. The mosaic image 1990_mosaic_large.jpg was created by combining two NASA Landsat Image mosaics (each 5 degrees latitude by 6 degrees longitude), and then taking a small subset of the combined image to isolate East Timor. The mosaics are provided in a false-color composite scheme using bands 7 (middle infrared), 4 (near infrared), and 2 (green) for the red, green, and blue components of the image, respectively. In this color scheme, vegetation appears green, drier areas and urban development appear pink, and water blue. The three Landsat TM images that cover East Timor in this image are dated (left to right): 9/20/89, 9/20/89, 10/05/91. The raster-resolution in the JPEG file has been resampled from 30 m to 250m to provide highly accurate image in a portable size (less than 1 MB). The NASA Landsat mosaics and 1990 East Timor image mosaic are archived at the Yale University Center for Earth Observation (www.yale.edu/ceo). The Landsat TM Images that cover East Timor in the 1990 mosaic: 1) MSS (WRS 2 Path 110 Row 67: 20 Sep 1989) Southern and Western regions of East Timor. 2) MSS (WRS 2 Path 110 Row 66: 20 Sep 1989) Central region of East Timor 3) MSS (WRS 2 Path 109 Row 66: 05 Oct 1991) Eastern region of East Timor.
