Assef Ashraf
Assef Ashraf received his B.A from New York University in 2005, where he was a recipient of the Rumi-Biruni prize for excellence in Persian Studies. At Yale, he plans to focus his research on the political, social, and cultural history of Iran during the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, and the emergence of the Qajar state during this period. His fields of study are Iran 1501-Present, Nationalism in the Modern Middle East, the Ottoman Empire, and Russia to 1825.
