Ted Fertik
I plan to focus my efforts on the economic and political history of the U.S. in the Gilded Age, as one part of the bigger story of American capitalism. I'm most interested in the financial system, and the ways in which this influenced both economic and political development in those years. This interest has more than a little to do with my love for my native New York City, whose own history is closely tied to the history of American finance. I'm looking forward to working with students and scholars from history and the social sciences to come to a better understanding of what American capitalism is and how it came to be.
