Mattie Fitch
I work on the history of modern Europe, with a focus on the cultural history of France and Germany between the years of 1870 and 1930. My primary interests are the cultural ramifications of the First World War and popular discourse surrounding groups such as women, children, wounded veterans, and the war dead. In this work I am supported by Jay Winter and Bruno Cabanes.
I hail from south-western Ohio and received my BA in History and French from Wellesley College in Massachusetts. I graduated Magna cum laude with Honors in History in 2008.
