What can you do to engage your mind when you were born in Burgundy, amidst rows and rows of vines? Instead of just drinking and talking, I began to read, think and write in a more disciplined way about wine. In this way, my unquenchable thirst became an (almost) virtuous intellectual addiction. By passing on the ideas of these scholars long before my time, I honor modern drinkers and keep the medieval spirit of wine appreciation alive. Working with medical and philosophical documents, I hope to inform the present-day wine critique with ideas from the past, applying, when possible, medieval thought to modern practice.
