New Haven, East Haven, Hamden, West Haven, and Woodbridge
Community-based Elderly Nutrition Projects administer
the program and provide at least one hot meal a day,
five days a week. People 60 years of age and older,
their spouses, and handicapped or disabled persons who
reside in housing facilities occupied primarily by older
people and at which congregate nutrition services are
provided, are eligible for the program, regardless of
income level. Meals are served at various sites. Check
with the individual project for information about menus
and transportation.

Friendly Shoppers is a grocery-shopping program that
provides trained volunteers to take frail or isolated
older adults to the grocery store or pick up groceries
for them.
Meals on Wheels Home Delivery Programs

Administered by the local Elderly Nutrition Project,
the Meals Home Delivery Program is designed for homebound
elderly people who are unable to travel to local meal
sites. Meals are prepared and delivered to the home.
No fee is charged for the meals, but participants are
encouraged to contribute to the cost of the meals according
to their means.
