  • The U.S. Government considers some or all of a Light Fellowship award taxable. However, generous allowances are made for non-graduating students.
  • The Light Fellowship staff can't offer tax advice, but the resources below should answer your questions.
  • Parents should also be aware of these resources as many parents handle taxes for their children.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS): Taxes on Scholarships / Fellowships

Yale International Tax Office

Non-US citizens should schedule an appointment with the International Tax Office to complete the necessary documents, if you have not already done so. Documents must be on file at the International Tax Office before your award check can be processed.
