Chat on Classes

Chat can involve many people at the same time. It is similar to a telephone conference call in that everyone needs to be online at the same time

Why use Chat ?

You or your TAs can hold "virtual office hours". Simply tell students that you will be on-line at an assigned time and you can have a real-time on-line discussion with several students.

You can assign students to participate in a Chat session at an arranged time and view their exchanges later.

Even if you are away from Yale you can schedule Chats with your students.

Instructors have the option of Saving the Chat and clearing the chat session. The saved Chat can be used for discussions in class. Click here to see how Spanish instructors used the chat feature to encourage in-class discussions.

Click

and you'll see

As the instructor you have the option of saving the Chat at any time. At the end of a Chat session click . The Chat is saved in a folder called Chat_Archive in the web pages section. You can then download this file, move it to Materials for students to view, or delete it.
