File Names and Organization

File Names

Please note: You cannot upload a file with a space or any of the following characters in its name: & # \ / : * ? " ' < > |. For example use hist_100a_readings.html.

On a Mac you must include the .html after the filename.

The first file you want your students to see in the webpages section must be called index.html. You can create links from index.html to other files.

File Organization

Organizing your web site for the classes server (Using History 100a as an example.)

On your own computer create a folder for all your Web site documents - call it "WebStuff"

In the Webstuff folder create a folder for History 100a.

Be sure to save all the web documents (including graphics files - e.g. .gif or jpg files) for History 100a in this folder.
