Creating Links

Select the text you want to link.
Click on the link icon or go to the Insert menu and select Link, the link dialogue box will appear.
Either click on Choose File or type in the url of the page you would like to link to and click OK. The words you linked will become underlined.
To change the color of the links you can go to the Format menu and choose Page color and properties.
To remove the link, highlight it and call up the link dialogue box again and select remove link.

To web pages and materials from previous years

Your web pages and materials will be kept on the server indefinitely. To define a URL for these pages, please be aware of the following
The URL for your webpage in the current year is http://classes.yale.edu/hist123a
For classes from previous years the academic year must be included in the URL. For example:
The URL for hist123a in the 1999/2000 year is
http://classes.yale.edu/99-00/hist123a
The URL for a file called dickens.html in the Materials section of that year would be
http://classes.yale.edu/99-00/materials/hist123a/dickens.html

(For classes from the 1998/1999 academic year "99-00" would be replaced by "98-99")

HINT: if you wish to publish a "permanent" URL for a course in the current academic year simply add the year to the URL, e.g. for the 2000-2001 year your URL would be http://classes.yale.edu/00-01/hist123a. This information is especially useful if this URL will appear in a printed publication which may be published after the current academic year is over.
