Adjusting junk email handling in Outlook 2003/2007
IMPORTANT: This documentation is for Outlook 2003 or 2007 only. Documentation for a different email client can be found at configure junk mail controls.
The Outlook email client performs junk email filtering and sends suspected junk email to the Junk E-mail folder automatically. Regularly review your Junk E-mail folder to make sure that valid messages are not being filtered.

- Remove messages from Junk E-Mail folder
Change the level of junk email protection
- On the Actions menu, click Junk E-mail > Junk E-mail Options.
The Junk E-Mail Options dialog box is displayed.

- Select an option in the Choose the level of junk e-mail protection you want: section.
- If desired, select the Safe Senders, Safe Recipients and Blocked Senders tabs and configure these options.
Safe Senders List
Email from email addresses in your Safe Senders list will never be treated as junk email. You can include email addresses or entire domain names in this list.
Safe Recipients List
Email that is sent to email addresses or domain names in your Safe Recipients list will never be treated as junk email. Never include your own email address in this list.
Blocked Senders List
Email from email addresses or domain names on your Blocked Senders List will always be treated as junk email.
To prevent filtering to Junk E-mail:
In Outlook 2007 or Outlook 2003, right click on the message in the Junk E-mail folder and select Add Sender to Safe Senders List from the Junk E-mail menu.
Remove messages from Junk E-Mail folder
Messages in the Junk E-Mail folder are removed when you right click on the Junk Email folder and select "Empty Junk E-mail Folder."
After you empty your Junk E-mail Folder, you have an additional 14 days to recover them if necessary. The messages can be recovered by using the Tools > Recover Deleted Items command. The junk email is gone forever 14 days from the date you emptied the Junk E-mail folder.
