Hardware recommendations for MD, Physicians Associate, Nursing, & Yale School of Medicine Graduate Students
As a student in the MD, Physicians Associate, Nursing or the Yale School of Medicine graduate program you are responsible to understand and follow the University’s HIPAA policies and procedures intended to protect patient data.
Because students and trainees are expected to use personally owned computers for educational purposes and are associated with Yale for shorter periods than most faculty and staff, they may use their own computers to store, access and transmit ePHI, so long as (1) their computers are managed to meet and maintain the standards of an encrypted Yale Managed Workstation; (2) they log-in to Yale systems via a Virtual Private Network; and (3) all ePHI that is not needed for continuing work is removed before the student or trainee leaves Yale.
The following computers are approved for use by MD, Nursing, Physicians Associate, and Yale School of Medicine Graduate students. Visit the ITS recommended hardware - detailed specifications for detailed information.
