For out first installment of the monthly profiles, we have decided to
profile the University of
Pennsylvania's KSA. However, we encourage each and every one of you to
submit a monthly
perspective. It does not necessarily have to be on an organizational
level. We would love
people to share personal thoughts, stories, and general perspectives as
well. It would also
help greatly if you could send pictures along with your submission, either
electronically or by
mail. It's a great forum and a great publicity spot!
The Korean Students
Association at the
University of
Pennsylvania is an organization of undergraduate students with an interest
in Korean
culture and life. KSA offers social events to provide a chance for
members to interact. KSA also has been working to promote cultural and
political awareness on Penn campus. We try to serve as a voice on issues
of importance to Korean and Korean-American students. KSA also offers
community service projects so that we can work with and give back to the
Penn community and the greater Philadelphia area.
Our past events have included house parties, potluck dinners for
Korean New Year and little/big sib dinners, ice-skating parties,
football games with other organizations,
semi-formals
including our Senior Banquet, and our cultural show, Penn Korean
Night.
This school year we have started another little/big sib program, had our
parties, will have
Sushi Night with Penn Nihon
Club, the Japanese student
organization at Penn, and will end the year with our winter semi-formal.
During Asian Pacific American
Heritage Week in October, we sponsored a multicultural forum to promote
awares of Asian American issues and stressing the importance of having
ethnic studies and learning about Asian American history. We will also
participate in Unity Week, held by an umbrella organization of all
minority groups on campus, in the middle of November.
