How to Use IRC

IRC stands for "Internet Relay Chat."  It's a series of virtual "chat rooms" on different subjects.  To use IRC, you will first need IRC client software for your computer.

  1. For a Mac IRC client, you can try IRCle, accessible from the IRCle Home Page. You might also try Homer (.94.sit.hqx).

  2. For a Widows client,  the windows program mIRC is a good place to start. The mIRC home page has additional links that will tell you more about IRC and how to use it. You can also check out this list of IRC clients.
  3. If none of these pages satisfies your needs, you might try the Wildstar Collection of IRC Clients. It's comprehensive, but not nearly as user-friendly as the other pages.

To learn how to use Internet Relay Chat (and to find out more about the background of IRC), you should start with the IRC page at SingNet.
