James Robert Brudner '83 Memorial Prize

This annual award goes to an accomplished scholar or activist who has made significant contributions to LGBT life. The Brudner prizewinner gives two lectures, one at Yale and one in New York City. Sarah Pettit Doctoral Fellowship

This biennial fellowship supports dissertation research in LGBT Studies, with lesbian studies particularly encouraged. The winner receives $20,000. The fellowship is named in memory of the accomplished journalist and Yale alumna Sarah Pettit. The next application deadline is January 15, 2010. For more information, click here.

Fund for Lesbian and Gay Studies (FLAGS) Research Grants

FLAGS provides grants of up to $5,000 to Yale faculty and graduate students for research and course development. There are two cycles of grant competitions and awards every year, in the fall and spring semesters. For more information, click here.

Solomon Research Fellowships in LGBT Studies

A generous gift from Andrew Solomon '85 has enabled us to organize an annual competition for summer fellowships to support undergraduate research projects in sexuality studies, especially lesbian, gay, bisexual, and/or transgender studies. Stipend support of $4,000 to $5,000 is granted for 8-10 weeks of fulltime summer research. Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors are eligible to apply. For more information, click here.

Bruce L. Cohen Fund Research Grants

GALA Senior Essay Prize

In association with GALA (the Yale Gay and Lesbian Alumni/ae Association), LGBT Studies awards an annual prize of up to $500 for the best senior essay or project in LGBT Studies. Click here to learn more.
