Ok, dumb question buts its one I've forgotten more then once myself - Did you
recompile/install the modules? Did you remove the existing mod tree (rename it
to soemthing else like 2.2.5.oldmodules) before installing the new?
Also, what happens if you inmod the module by hand once the machine is
running? insmod 3c509.o ? (I think lsmod will give you a listing of loaded
modules)

Thats just a continuation failure. Not important of itself. Since step A
didnt work, step B didnt either.

RedHat does alot of things well but its not always the best for those that
wish to remain on the cutting edge. I compiled 2.2.3 without much problem but
havent tried 2.2.5 yet. My point is that just because you have compilation
problems on the latest kernel doesnt mean its the distribution and switching
distributions might help only because its a clean re-install of the OS, not
because its "better".
