i used DHCP under Debian 2.0 at the beginning of the year with no trouble.
the only problem was my vanity IP. my linux box was "spork.je.yale.edu" (no
port scans, please), but DHCPcd would still give me
"netXX-YYY.student.yale.edu", so i just hardcoded my IP. also saves me from
DHCP server problems (my win98-using roommates complain about getting error
messages all the time about loosing the lease on their IPs)

the DHCP client daemon (DHCPcd) keeps its resolv.conf in
/etc/dhcpc/resolv.conf, which can be linked to /etc/resolv.conf.
