that's what makes this even more of an amazing/weird feat, because I was
aware of all the vanity name problems involved with dhcp here earlier, and
I do have a vanity ip also for my machine, and it *still* worked fine,
without me having to do any compensation whatsoever for the vanity ip.
Hmmmm...maybe DHCP does have some promise after all...
