Is it possible that "/erc/red-hat-relase" is a typo of
"/etc/red-hat-release"? There is a file "/etc/redhat-release" on my
RedHat 6.0. I checked but that file doesn't seems to be essential
for my "/bin/netconf".

What is the exact problem of your networking? Did you install your
network card during Linux installation or you added it after Linux
was installed? Have you loaded in the right module/driver for you network
adapter? I'm not sure about LinuxPPC. But if it's similar to Redhat, you
can try checking on "/etc/conf.modules" and see if there is a line like
"alias eth0 xxx". "xxx" should be the model of your network card.
