I was bequeathed a 19" (or so) Sun 8-bit monitor back in January- used to
go with the Zoo machines two generations or so ago. It has begun to get
just a little bit dim (sort of bluish) but is a Trinitron and still has a
very clear, sharp image and high (1152x900) resolution. It works great
with any old Sun- IT WILL NOT WORK WITH A PC. 256 colors is a bit low but
I find surfing the web works fine still (though with my ancient computer
it's closer to "wading the web", I'm afraid).
Unfortunately it is the size of a large microwave and weighs well over 50
pounds, I'd guess. It has also outlived its usefulness as I am buying a
new computer soon. Would anyone like to come cart it away, or who would
like to retrieve it from Calhoun storage at the beginning of next year? I
hate to abandon it to the mercies of the custodial staff, but it really is
a beast.
