HyperTerminal connection in Linux.

Hello. I have been trying to connect to the Yale network through the Hyper
terminal thingy (Phone # 764-9506 - this is not the PPP number) in Linux
as my PPP account has been terminated. I can dial in and log into pantheon
but when I try to run pine, everything is garbled. I tried setting the env
TERM to vt100 and xterm, but it still did not help. Any suggestions? I am
running RH 6.0 with KDE.
