modem problem.

Hi. My modem is unable to connect especially after I have been online
for quite a while, disconnect and try to connect again a little bit
later. The /var/log is saying this:

expect (OK)

Failed
connect script failed
Exit
ppd started for ppp0 on /dev/modem at 115200
pppd 2.3.5 started by root, uid 0

(repeated over and over again)

I am running RH5.2 with WindowMaker. This happens to me about half the
time and rebooting the system always seems to fix this i.e. I can get
online after I reboot.

Could someone please explain to me what is going on?
