I would really check which harware is supported by the different
distibutions. As for SuSE I know that there is a good Hardware database
at:

http://cdb.suse.de/cdb/english/

you can just enter your hardware and see if it is supported. I like the
KDE with SuSE but I have to admitt, that I never tryed anything but
SuSE. Hey ist a German Company and I am german ;-). But for shure the
installation prosess is farly simple. I have the full SuSE 6.0
distribution on my Harddrive (downloaded from FTP) If you need it let me
know.
