Mathematica questions - first off, anyone know exactly what the
deal with obtaining Mathematica for Linux through Yale is?
http://www.yale.edu/secf/software/mma/unixinstall.html says that there's a
$100 fee/year for UNIX or UNIX-like system licenses; is that really the
case?
I ask this question more for the general good than anything else;
I don't really have enough spare hard drive space to install Mathematica
anyway. Which brings me to my next question... Mathematica's on the
Pantheon. I'd assume it's there so we can use it; nonetheless, does anyone
think that the powers-that-be would find it angering if I were to
regularly run it off the Pantheon and send the display to my own X
terminal? (Yes, I'd be likely to see lower load averages on the Zoo, but
it seems that the Zoo's mathematica license expired at the end of last
August and hasn't been renewed, at least on the nodes I tried.)
Provided it's o.k. for us to do that, I can offer people tips on
downloading the math fonts and setting them up so that a
DISPLAY-redirected mathematica will be able to use them.
Thanks,
Matt
