Brian Edwards
President and Founder
Brian Edwards

Brian is a MATHCOUNTS alum (New York, 1999; Nationals, 2000). He co-founded the MATHCOUNTS program at his middle school; the New York City Laboratory School for Collaborative Studies. Brian's MATHCOUNTS experience inspired him to participate in numerous math contests in high school and he continues to enjoy working on recreational math problems. Brian is eager to share his enthusiasm for math with New Haven students. He is a junior Cognitive Science major in Calhoun College who is interested in studying the evolutionary origins of the mind, with an emphasis on systematic biases in reasoning and decision-making. In his free time, Brian plays numerous intramural sports, including baseball, softball, and hockey. He is still searching for his first goal.
Daniel Turner-Evans
Treasurer
Daniel Turner-Evans

Dan participated in MATHCOUNTS in middle school, converting many chocolate-chip cookies and Oreos into a second place finish in the Connecticut countdown round finals. He continued to participate in Math competitions throughout high school and continues to love math to this day. Dan has tutored sporadically throughout college and is eager to dedicate more time to helping the future participants of YUMO and to developing the program. Along with participating in MATHCOUNTS, Dan is a FOOT leader and equipment core member, a STEP coordinator, College Council member, and IM secretary for Calhoun, the head of Team Lux, Yale's solar car team, and a member of the Yale Club wrestling and lacrosse teams.

Webmaster
Eli Luberoff

Eli is a junior Physics Major in Calhoun College. He is a part-time music enthusiast, singing with and accompanying the Yale Glee Club and playing piano whenever he finds one, whatever the hour. He tutors University and Elementary school students, and is excited to bridge the gap between the two. At one point in his life, Eli was athletic, and he still attempts various sports from time to time. Eli believes that his MATHCOUNTS experience was instrumental in his acclimation to the real world. He still has difficulty sorting his whites from his colors when doing laundry.
Sarah Hecht
Board Member
Sarah Hecht

Sarah Hecht is a junior in Yale's best college, Ezra Stiles. Growing up, she split her time between Salt Lake City and France. Here, she is studying cognitive science, and is also president of Yale's French Club, Vis-à-Vis. Her real passions, however, lie outside academics in soccer, skiing, horses, and in humanitarian medical missions to third world countries. She plans on attending an MD/PhD program after graduating from Yale with hopes of becoming a practicing medical school professor.
Evan Orenstein
Board Member
Evan Orenstein

Evan Orenstein (Georgia '99, Nationals '00) has been interested in math since his father forced him to memorize all the powers of 2 up to 1,048,576. While the recitation of the aforementioned geometric series has yet to impress any girls, Evan has continued to enjoy math and science throughout his education. He is currently a sophomore at Yale majoring in biochemistry. Outside of academia, Evan spends most of his time doing public health activism with Yale AIDS Watch, juggling with the Yale Anti-Gravity Society or eating. He gets particularly excited when he encounters spicy Mexican food, sushi, or any dish containing the word "cheese."
