Philipp Engel has been awarded a postdoctoral fellowship from EMBO (European Molecular Biology Organization) for his work on the genetics and functions of bee-associated bacteria. (December 2011)

Ryuichi Koga, a researcher from the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology in Japan, has joined the lab in July to work on symbionts in aphids and bees for the next year. (August 2011)

Jill Dolowich, a high school student from Long Island, was a researcher in the lab from June to August, and has just finished her work on the routes of transmission of bacterial microbiota between worker bees. (August 2011)

Dan Sloan, who joins the lab on Aug 1 2011, has been awarded a 3 year NIH Ruth Kirschstein postdoctoral fellowship to work on small genomes in insect symbionts. Dan recently finished his PhD at University of Virginia with Doug Taylor. (May 2011)

Allison Hansen is awarded a 2-year USDA/NIFA Postdoctoral Fellowship to study the interaction between Buchnera and aphids. (May 2011)
