Greetings from the Director

Welcome to all international students, scholars and their families! Over 4000 international students and scholars representing more than 110 countries call Yale University their home away from home.

The Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) is here to answer your questions and help you with any problem that you may have. OISS also serves as your resource on immigration matters and is Yale’s liaison to the U.S. federal agencies that are concerned with matters related to international students and scholars studying and working here. Our dedicated team of advisers can assist you with problems concerning your immigration status, social and personal adjustment to life in the United States and other personal matters and concerns.  Through the activities of the International Center for Yale Students and Scholars, you will have an opportunity to make valuable social connections and become acquainted with the myriad of resources at Yale and in New Haven that will make your stay enjoyable and productive.

To introduce you to the services and programs of OISS and to make sure you entered the U.S. in proper status, we ask that you bring your passport and immigration documents to check in with us when you arrive in New Haven.

Our best wishes for a successful stay at Yale and do let us know how we can be of assistance to you.

Ann Kuhlman
Director, Office of International Students and Scholars
