Once you have been admitted to Yale, or you have accepted a position at Yale, you should begin work on obtaining your visa document, your U.S. embassy visa stamp, and gettting your travel plans to the U.S. confirmed. The OISS will contact you (once we know that you have been admitted or hired) and help you with this process.
However before you leave home or put your belongings into storage, consider which additional personal and official documents you may need to bring with you to the U.S. It is often difficult to obtain these documents after you leave your home country. In this section, you can review the medical and financial documents, as well as driving permits and family records you may need to access to during your time in the U.S.
You may also want to attend a pre-departure orientation program organized by EducationUSA offices around the world. This will give you an opportunity to meet other students from home who will be begining their studies in the U.S. this fall as well as get answers to general questions you may have.
