Uma’s Evening at the Yale Rep: Arcadia

OISS offers a fun evening on October 3 combining a famous play with a social hour prior to the play. OISS has a limited number of tickets available for ARCADIA at $16 (plus online processing fee); advance payment and registration is required. Bring your Eventbrite ticket to OISS, and exchange it for the Yale Rep ticket before October 2. We will have a light reception at OISS at 6:30pm. Afterwards, we’ll walk over together to the theatre which starts at 8:00pm.

Wooster Square Walking Tour
Meet @ 421 Temple Street

Tour the historic neighborhood of Wooster Square with local resident and OISS adviser Erin Gustafson. Hear stories of New Haven’s industrial and immigrant past and learn how residents are actively improving their neighborhood today. OISS would like to welcome back continuing researchers at YSM, and welcome new arrivals with our Fall 2014 Passports & Pizza information session. Our guest speaker will be Associate Dean Merle Waxman. We’ll begin the event with a discussion about Yale resources with Dean Waxman; Ombudsman, and Director of the Office for Women in Medicine at YSM. Following this we’ll enjoy New Haven pizza while discussing passports and immigration with Parker Emerson, Associate Director of OISS. He will answer any immigration questions, but focus mainly on how to map your career while navigating immigration.

Halloween Madness!! Pumpkin Carving Workshop

Is this your first Halloween in the USA? Have you ever thought about how a pumpkin is carved? Do you know how you would like your Halloween pumpkin to look like, but you don’t know how to make it? Come to the OISS on October 22nd, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm for a private workshop with the OISS’s Headmistress of Pumpkin Carving, Ms. Sarah Solarski! We promise, besides great fun and scary Jack O’Lanterns, that you will learn how to carve that pumpkin you have been dreaming of, you’ll make new friends… and maybe, if your pumpkin is scary enough… win a prize! The workshop is limited to 10 people, and it includes a pumpkin and carving tools for you to take back home. This is a 21+ event. Ticket cost is $10 + online fee. Registration required!
