Plans are underway for all undergraduates to start the fall semester with a new ID card. This card will have a new look and some added features. The old card was a Polaroid picture laminated in a plastic pouch; a bar-code used by the Library and Dining Halls to identify privileges was laminated under black plastic on the back of the card. The new card includes a digitized image and will be a proximity access card for entry to all residential college gates and to hallways on Old Campus for students living there. All of the current ID information, including a bar-code, will be printed on the front. The back of the new card will have a magnetic stripe and a vending stripe which will allow the implementation of new uses for the card in the near future. One card does it all!
Returning students have been asked to stop by the image capture station at Woolsey Hall earlier this month to have new photos made (electronic ones) so replacement ID cards can be printed over the summer. For incoming students, a packet requesting a passport photo was mailed with their admission acceptance materials at the beginning of April; the returned photos will be scanned and cards printed in time for their arrival August 30.
A new ID Center will be opening in August to serve ID card needs during regular business hours.
