Yale University has a special commitment to New Haven's youth. More than 10,000 New Haven young people participate in free Yale-sponsored academic and athletic programs on the Yale campus every year. During the school year, hundreds of Yale students work alongside New Haven teachers with public school students in focused University-sponsored programs. Hundreds more volunteer through Dwight Hall at Yale, the student-run center for volunteer service. Each summer, more than 600 New Haven young people participate in free, full-day academic and recreation programs.
