Campus writers to discuss their books at Yale Bookstore

The Yale Bookstore will host book signings this week featuring individuals from the Yale community.

Visual artist Bill Beckley, editor of "Uncontrollable Beauty," will talk about the work on Friday, April 24, at 4 p.m. The book brings together some of the top thinkers in aesthetics (the study of the beautiful), including poet John Ashbery, philosopher Arthur Danto, art historian Meyer Shapiro, psychologist James Hillman and aspiring writer Max Feirst, a Yale undergraduate. Feirst will join Beckley during the talk, which is free and open to the public. Joshua Gamson, assistant professor of sociology, will discuss and sign copies of his new book about TV talk shows Monday, April 27, at 4 p.m. The work, titled "Freaks Talk Back: A Look at Sexual Nonconformists Who Expose Themselves on Television," examines the particular aspect of the tell-all talk show that focuses on the lives of gays, lesbians, transexuals and other sexually marginalized groups. During the book signing, Gamson will show clips from and comment on several TV talk shows. The event is free and open to the public.

The Yale Bookstore is located at 77 Broadway. For more information, call 777-8440.
