Science Hill switchover scheduled for May 6
At press time, the switchover from the United Illuminating feeders serving Central Campus to Yale's new cogeneration feeders had been successfully completed on April 22, and the Becton Center switchover was scheduled for April 24. The final switchover, in the Science Hill area, is now scheduled to take place 8-9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6.
The following buildings may be affected by the switchover:
Kline Biology Tower; Osborne Memorial Laboratories; Josiah Willard Gibbs Laboratory; Bass Center for Molecular and Structural Biology; Arthur W. Wright Nuclear Structure Laboratory; Accelerator Laboratories #1 and #2; Sloane Physics Laboratory; Kline Chemistry Laboratory; Kline Geology Laboratory; Sterling Chemistry Laboratory; Peabody Museum of Natural History; Luce Hall; Ingalls Rink; School of Management; Donaldson Commons; Hammond Hall; Seely G. Mudd Library; All Hillhouse Avenue buildings; Pierson-Sage Garage; 85 Trumbull St.; 155 & 158 Whitney Ave.; 124, 135 & 140 Prospect St.; and 70 & 80 Sachem St.
While it is expected that the switchover will not affect electrical service to the Science Hill area, there is a potential for power outage. It is advised that computer files be backed up frequently, and the use of elevators avoided during the indicated time frame. For further information, call 432-9077.
